Judges Needed: Home-School Speech and Debate tournament, Concordia University, Irvine, March 2-5, 2016

Fellow Toastmasters:  The Home-School Speech and Debate tournament at Concordia University in Irvine, is once again soliciting TI’s assistance with their annual tournament.  The date of the tournament is March 2-5.

They need volunteers from the community to help them fill over 2,000 judging slots, and they are reaching out to their Toastmaster friends for help. But their need is not limited to Toastmasters.  They would gladly accept anyone over age 18 who is willing to judge a round. So, they encourage volunteers to register a friend and bring them along!

They have a variety of events that you can judge:

·       For Individual Speech Events (IE)

·       For Lincoln Douglas Debate (LD)

·       For Parliamentary Debate (Parli)

·       For Team Policy Debate (TP)

Those of us in the Judges Bureau have enjoyed our experience in the past at the Concordia competitions.   As a reminder, there is no prior experience necessary, and you will need to expect to spend approximately three hours on campus to judge one round.  The time includes judge check-in, judge training, time for ballot completion and refreshments, as well as the actual judging.

Once you reach the Concordia campus, there are many directional signs on the campus to get you where you need to go. After parking, follow all the signs to "Concordia Central" to find judge registration and the orientation room. You won't get lost!

Below is their tournament link where volunteers may register to judge.

If you do register on-line, please let me so that I can track TI activities.   The tournament leaders and I look forward to hearing from you!
